Challenger Science 2025 Final: The main prize was won by the ElectroChemX team from the CEMEA SAS

At this year’s Challenger Science 2025 finals, eleven young scientific teams presented their projects, which – over the course of almost three months and under the supervision of experts from practice – they transformed from academic research ideas into solutions with real societal impact. More than 90 applications from PhD students and researchers from all over Slovakia were submitted to the program, showing that interest in bringing research results closer to practical application is growing among domestic scientists.

The main prize at the Challenger Science 2025 finals was won by the ElectroChemX team – Anna Kityk and Viliam Pavlík from the Centre for Advanced Materials Application, Slovak Academy of Sciences – for the development of an electrochemical, non-toxic technology for cleaning, polishing, and surface treatment of metals.
