Anna Kityk is also a winner of the L’Oréal – UNESCO For Women in Science award in Slovakia
The expert jury at the Slovak Academy of Sciences, chaired by Prof. RNDr. Ľubica Lacinová, DrSc., awarded prizes in three research areas in the ninth year of the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program.
The winner in the physical and formal sciences category was Doc. Mgr. Anna Kityk, PhD. from the Center for the Use of Advanced Materials at the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics at the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

Her scientific work focuses on researching green hydrogen—a clean fuel of the future that leaves only water behind after use. Her goal is to make green hydrogen production more efficient, affordable, and environmentally friendly. Her approach is unique in that it uses biodegradable solvents and nanostructured materials on foam substrates. This enables her and her colleagues to create highly efficient and environmentally friendly catalysts that make a significant contribution to the development of renewable energy sources.
CONGRATULATIONS!
DEMADES – Summer School of Young Scientists 2025
From July 14th to 18th, 2025, the Center for Advanced Materials Application (CEMEA SAS) welcomed a group of bright, curious students to take part in the Summer School of Young Scientists, a week filled with discovery, creativity, and hands-on science. The DEMADES project team was proud to play an active role in this inspiring initiative, helping to ignite a passion for research in the minds of the next generation.
We are SAV
On 14-15 June 2024, the largest popularization event of the Slovak Academy of Sciences took place at Hviezdoslav Square in Bratislava. The rich programme and exhibitors from various SAV institutes included CEMEA SAV, v.v.i., which presented its scientific research activities within the theme of battery research.

Excursion for students
In May 2024, in cooperation with the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, v. v. i., we organized an excursion for students from the School for Exceptionally Gifted Children and the Gymnasium in Bratislava. Our scientists prepared interesting lectures for the students from several areas of research, which are dealt with at both institutes within the framework of individual departments and themes. These were topics in the field of batteries, electromobility, ceramic materials and much more. The excursion was also combined with a visit to the laboratories, where our researchers also showed them some experiments and practical cases, which the students enjoyed very much and were actively involved throughout the day.
