President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini visited CEMEA SAV

On 12 March 2025, the Centre for the Application of Advanced Materials of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, v. v. i. (CEMEA SAV) was part of the official visit of the President of the Slovak Republic Petr Pellegrini. During the programme, the President toured the laboratories of CEMEA SAV and got acquainted with the current research activities of the Centre. The topics discussed were those that are currently crucial for technological progress and play an important role in the future of Slovakia and the whole world. One of the main areas presented was research on solid-state electrolyte batteries, which represent a safer and more efficient alternative to the commonly used liquid electrolytes. “Commonly available batteries contain liquid electrolyte, which has several disadvantages – especially high flammability. We study the solid electrolyte using advanced technologies that allow us to accurately analyse its composition, structure and functionality. We are working on this topic in the framework of five European projects, which is unique in the environment of the Slovak Academy of Sciences,” said Naďa Mrkývková, CEMEA researcher.

The visit underlined the importance of CEMEA SAV as an important player in the field of research on innovative energy technologies with a strong European overlap.
